2009 Rotarian of the Year Paul McCord, the 2009 recipient of the Rotarian of the Year Award, has been a member of The Cleveland Rotary Club since 1983. During his years of service, Paul has sold more Rotary Club Chili Day tickets than any other current club member. Over the years, Paul's efforts have provided much of the funding required for the benevolent projects taken on by the Cleveland Rotary Club.
Paul is originally from Humboldt, TN and is a graduate of UT-Martin where he met his wife Nancy. He received his DDS degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis and completed his Oral Surgery residency at UT-Memphis. He opened his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice in Cleveland in 1983. He was the past president of the Cleveland Dental Society and the Tennessee Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Paul was one of the founding Board members of Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland and served on the Board for over ten years. During that time he was involved in many different roles for Habitat including fund raising, grant writing, site selection and anything else that was needed. The Cleveland Habitat organization is recognized as one of the best in the state. Paul has also participated in the Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps. This group provides free medical, dental, vision and veterinary care to underserved individuals. During a weekend RAM expedition in Cleveland, TN, RAM provided services to over 500 individuals.
Paul and his wife Nancy have been married for thirty-five years and have two children, Nicole, who is studying law and Hunter, who is following in his father's footsteps to become an oral surgeon.
